![]() ![]() In my playthrough, I didn’t have to worry about any enemies coming from our left side. The Locust are holed up near the intersection of the street further down, a ways to the right. You’ll start at the end of a street, near a different garage featuring a bright neon sign. Recommended squad: Gabe (support), Sid (vanguard), Mikayla (sniper), and a scout. This mission is also pretty difficult to finish in 15 turns, because you’ll have to move back to an extraction point. All in all, it’s a pretty straightforward mission, but it does introduce Locust sniper drones into the mix closer near the garage, so play things smart. This mission tasks you with destroying a canister of emulsion fluid stashed inside a garage on the far end of the map. This goes much faster if you have a squadmate in both supply rings. ![]() You have to earn enough to reach the objective amount (displayed above on the screen). At the start of each turn, if a squadmate is inside the supply circle, you’ll gain one supply. The whole idea here is to just hold these two positions. Play it safe for the first couple of turns, as you don’t want to expose yourself on the way to the right supply drop, since you’ll have to use the stairs that go further right. I ended up putting Gabe down here, but it might be a smarter idea to put Sid there. The right side will be a little tougher, as it’s the wider area and will feature more Grenadiers and Hammerburst Drones. Keep Mikayla’s sniper overwatch similarly positioned, as a group of Wretches will be one of the first waves to spawn from that side of the map. Keep that squadmate centrally positioned and have them place an overwatch cone on the stairs on the left side of that courtyard. The left supply drop is the easiest to get to, and arguably the easiest to defend. I also recommend having a heavy-class troop in your squad, or perhaps a higher level support if you have one by now.Įssentially, have two squadmates with some level of range and/or heavy damage posted on the bridge (you may have to change up position to get decent angles on some enemies), and one positioned at the supply drop zone on the left and one on the right. ![]()

Aperture: A Telescope's Most Important Feature But don't overlook portability and convenience - the best scope for you is the one you'll actually use. And all other things being equal, big scopes show more and are easier to use than small ones, as we'll see below. The telescope you want has two essentials: high-quality optics and a steady, smoothly working mount. Armed with these few basic types of telescopes, you'll have a good idea what to look for (and what to avoid) when scouring the marketplace for your new scope. So here is a guide to help you make sense of the "universe" of telescope models available today. Many (arguably most) good starter scopes cost $400 or more, though some superb choices are available for under $250. Instead, you should choose a telescope based on your observing interests, lifestyle, and budget. It can be a portal to the universe and provide a lifetime of enjoyment.īut there's no one "perfect" telescope - just as there's no such thing as a perfect car. Because the mirror shapes have changed, the 2 mirrors alone no longer are a Ritchey-Chrétien telescope in the strict definition of the design. In the design of LCOGT's 1.0 meter telescopes, the shape of the mirrors has been changed a bit in order to find a more optimal optical design for the system as a whole. A true Ritchey-Chrétien has a hyperbolic primary and a hyperbolic secondary mirror. LCO's 1.0 meter telescopes are quasi- Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes. Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes use a spherical mirror with a correcting plate that corrects the focus. Some telescopes use a combination of mirrors and lenses. Mirrors in modern telescopes area made in various shapes to correct for these errors. A spherical mirror surface is relatively easy to make, but different parts of a spherical mirror have slightly different focal lengths, so images will be fuzzy. However, images from a parabolic mirror will have a defect called coma, where images far from the center of the field of view are elongated. Parabolic mirrors will focus all incoming light rays to a single point. Also, unless the mirrors and other optics are kept at the same temperature as the outside air, there will be air currents inside the telescope that will cause images to be fuzzy.ĭifferent reflectors use different shapes of mirrors. Because they are normally open, the mirrors have to be cleaned. Reflecting telescopes have a few disadvantages as well. They are also easier to mount because the back of the mirror can be used to attach to the mount. Mirrors don't cause chromatic aberration and they are easier and cheaper to build large. Reflecting telescopes have many advantages over refracting telescopes. This arrangement is useful when optical equipment is being used that is too heavy to mount directly on the telescope. ![]() Coudé telescopes use a convex secondary mirror like a Cassegrain and an angled mirror like a Newtonian reflector to move the light rays to a focal point away from the telescope. ![]() Prime focus telescopes have no secondary optics and the observer or camera observes the image from near the focal point. Cassegrain reflectors have a convex secondary mirror and a hole in the middle of the primary mirror. There are several other types of reflectors that solve the issue of where to focus the light in different ways. One is called a Newtonian reflector, where a flat mirror is used to point the light rays out to an eyepiece. This focus is directly in the path of the incoming light, so there are several ways of making images from the mirror visible. If the surface is flat, the angle at which a beam of light approaches the mirror will be equal to the angle at which the beam is reflected, so i = r in the diagram below.Ĭurved mirrors can bend light and make parallel light rays converge to a focus. If the surface is smooth, like a mirror, the light will reflect in a predictable way. When light hits a surface that it can't travel through, it bounces back. ![]() ![]() Usually commercial software or games are produced for sale or to serve a commercial purpose. ![]() Even though, most trial software products are only time-limited some also have feature limitations. I visited her this last week and was happy to see all the green growth. The wax myrtles that Elizabeth planted are thriving. Propagation is by seeds, which germinate easily and rapidly, tip cuttings, division of the stolons or transplanting wild plants. The cultivar ‘Pumila’ is a dwarf form, less than three feet high. Myrica pensylvanica, northern bayberry, is a more cold-hardy species and the source of wax for bayberry candles. Only female trees produce fruit provided there is a male nearby, but seeds do not appear to become a weed problem in the landscape. However, in a naturalized garden this thick growth could be an advantage, since it would provide good nesting cover for wildlife. This can be a nuisance as they need to be removed several times each year to keep the tree looking sharp. The only drawback to the plant is its tendency to sprout from the roots. Plants should be watered well until established and will then require no further care. Plants spaced 10 feet apart, maintained in this manner, can create a nice canopy of shade for pedestrian traffic. Some landscape managers hedge the crown into a multi-stemmed dome-shaped topiary. Removing excess shoot growth two times each year eliminates the tall, lanky branches and reduces the tendency for branches to droop. Set them back from the road if used as a street tree so drooping branches will not hinder traffic. It is adapted to parking lot and street tree planting, especially beneath powerlines, but branches tend to droop toward the ground, possibly hindering flow of vehicular traffic if not properly trained and pruned. It is also very salt-tolerant (soil and aerosol), making it suitable for seaside applications. Very tough and easily-grown, southern waxmyrtle can tolerate a variety of landscape settings from full sun to partial shade, wet swamplands or high, dry and alkaline areas. Then, of course, some day she might want to make candles. Secondarily, she is growing them for their nitrogen-fixing abilities, as they’ll thrive in her very poor pineland soil. She told me her primary goal was to give their land some privacy, and that wax myrtles didn’t really stand out as anything worth paying attention to. While on the road, I asked her why she wanted to plant a non-edible hedge across the front of her property. I actually went to the nursery with she and her husband on the day they bought their hedge plants. She put in a long hedge of wax myrtle in front of her property. Though I haven’t grown it, my friend Elizabeth here in Alabama does. It’s a nondescript shrub, rather common in some scrubby areas of the South.
